Du Beaumont ****

The Du Beaumont (prior Squara) belongs to the better small affordable hotels in Paris. At least I think the price performance and location is just spot on. Great design and in the hart of one of the most beautiful areas of Paris.

Central and ideally located at the foot of the Blanche metro line 2, Hôtel du Beaumont combines French charm, art of living and contemporary elegance. The 19 rooms of this boutique hotel are all singularly decorated with noble materials that bring comfort, cocoon and refinement to the fore.

Located 50 meters from the Moulin Rouge, the original stone walls would hide secret passages that connected it to the scene of the famous cabaret.

Some secret passages that allowed direct access to the wings/backstage of this mythical stage, were even recently discovered during recent alteration works! The original stone walls were also unconcealed and play a part, today, in the sophisticated interior decoration of our hotel that blends historical charm and modern design.

The interior decoration of the premises, that emphasizes the stone walls and garrets, draws its inspiration from a private household. The rooms, all different, are appointed with warm colours, precious fabrics, comfortable and design furniture, alike the common areas of the hotel. Nested in these luxurious gold and bronze settings, the rooms on the 5th floor offer an exceptional view of Paris sky.

When I visited, I was together with Dave where we enjoyed doing the city while on business in Paris. As far as I remember it was Valentine's day and we experienced a blast, only insiders know. A place to remember.

Update: when we stayed there, many years ago, the hotel was the Squara. When I checked out the place lately, I saw it was renamed "Du Beaumont".
